The Consumerization Workbook
25 October 2012
This workbook is the follow-up to our 2011 report Preparing for a Post-PC World, which identified a series of opportunities for businesses to leverage the combination of new, consumer-driven technologies and increasingly tech-savvy employees. That report assessed Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) – the switch from working with devices and services provided by the organization to devices and services chosen and often owned by individuals. This document will provide tactical advice for establishing not just BYOT, but also two closely related future Enterprise IT requirements: the support of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) self-service computing and the implementation of Outside-In IT architectures.
It includes our popular LEF Readiness Assessment tool – a series of questions about your organization that will help you understand the factors necessary for consumerization success, while identifying the gaps that you need to close. It also discusses critical issues you need to consider when formulating your implementation plan, and provides advice from companies that are already well along the consumerization journey. Finally, it describes what additional help is available from the LEF.
View Doug Neal and Jim Ginsburgh's video clip (July 2012) where they discuss some of the concepts mentioned in this workbook.
